Sports:
Air Cadets can participate in a wide variety of sports - including:
Athletics, Cross Country, Football - 11 a side and 5 a side , Hockey - 11 a side and 7 a side
Netball (female cadets only), Rugby (male cadets only), Swimming
As well as the sports featured here , there are also a huge variety of other sports participated in at Squadron and Wing levels including 5-A-Side, Table Tennis, Volleyball, basketball and many more. These tend to be played more for local pride and fun rather than being truly competitive; You dont have to be an 'Elite' level sportsperson - ATC Cadets take part in sports mainly for fun. However if you are good at your sport you may be chosen to represent your Wing, Region or even the Corps itself.
We have had a number of cadets represent Wing this year - Cdt Fidler, Hockey, Cpl Hellings, Rugby, Cdt Lewis, Cross Country.
1074 Squadron has regular sports nights where cadets get the opportunity to take part in all the above sports and many many more.
One sport which is unique to 1074 Squadron is Wheelchair Basketball as AWO Jackson is a member of the Great Britain team and plays for the Celtic Warriors Wheelchair Basketball Team. 1074 Cadets have had a number of Basketball and Wheelchair Basketball sessions.
