Civilian Committee
Each Air Cadet Squadron has a Civilian Committee.
These comprise of Parents and Friends of the Squadron. Their role is to ensure the Squadron maintains direction, assisting the Commanding Officer and raising funds – they are the backbone of the ATC and Squadrons cannot function without them.
Fundraising is very important as it supports many squadron activities other than flying, gliding and shooting and some sports. Most pursuits are financed through fundraising.
Many parents and friends get a great deal of enjoyment, pleasure and fun out of assisting 'their' Squadrons as members of the Civilian Committee. Committees meet to their own timetable, usually once per month, under the direction of a Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer.
We would be very pleased to accept any offers of extra help - even if you can not commit to regular or long term assistance.
Here at 1074 Squadron the Civilian Committee run the tuckshop for the cadets, they open it every evening and are responsible of maintaining the stock and feeding the many hungry mouths at the Squadron !! The Committee are also responsible for the important job of collecting Cadet Subscriptions once a week.
In the last couple of years the Committee have organised: Presentation nights, Christmas Social Events, Bag Packing at local supermarkets, Stalls at local summer Fayres, and many many other things – so whatever skills you have and whatever time you can commit we need you.
If you think you can be of any help to us – please come down and pay us a visit or email us and we will get one of the Committee members to contact you.
