Cadet Training.....

All Air Cadets take part in training - there is a set syllabus that we must follow but there are many outher activities added to the training programme during the year - see the section on Activities to find out more about the other things you can get to do.

We believe that learning is made easier when taking an active part in exercises rather than simply reading from a book, because of this we ensure that as much of our training as possible is hands on and interactive. We draw on a multitude of experienced staff, who between them, have a huge array of skills.

With respect to academic subjects, we are required to follow the set Air Cadet training syllabus, this is intertwined with probably one of the busiest cadet calendars in the Air Cadets. The parade night program is ever changing and there are always new events being planned for the future.

As you progress with the Air Cadets, your aim is to advance through the classifications, each step you take on the ladder opens up more opportunities of activities you can take part in. For instance as soon as you earn for your First Class Cadet badge, you are then able to go Shooting, Flying, Gliding.

When you first join 1074 Squadron you will be part of the Recruit Training flight where you will learn lots about the ATC and will get a taster of lots of subjects and activities - we will also measure you for your uniform.

After 6 weeks you will move on to start your first class training and at 3 months you will receive your uniform.
